Backstage Shenanigans

We want to tell you it all, taking you backstage with us! Still in the show, heart pounding, 2 seconds before the runway, sorting out the jewellery.  We care about the details, everything counts, because we create clothes that last not just a season, but a lifetime.

Look one was our knotted khaki vest worn by the sculptural Sam, strolling as graciously as a cat on the runway, getting the first interested, anticipated, amazed, curious glances of the front row, including my mum, my first supporter, sharing it all live on her Facebook. My dear friends too came all the way from Paris, London, Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, Switzerland, Lebanon, Tunisia, Egypt, Germany, and so on, and so forth, to cheer for CHEYMA.

Sam is already back, and the second look is almost here as well. I am sending our girls one after the other, while the third one is getting ready to start its short and intense journey on the catwalk, under hundred of eyes, here to discover the "Whimsy Canyon" collection.

Everything is happening so fast, the music changes, now Kelly Rowland’s Work is putting the girls into trance as they’re all dancing backstage. Another oriental instrumental music and Beyoncé’s Naughty Girl got them singing “I love to love you baby” and twirling.

“Good music choice, you go girl!” that couldn’t make me happier ! And finally, the last song starts, a wink to one of my favorite singers, whom I met a few weeks ago in Paris, Maître Gims. Now I’m the one who’s in trance and I can’t stop dancing while Therese, our last little fairy, opens her delicate wings to fly on the runway and close the show. Boom!

End of the show: that’s a wrap!

It felt great! It was a bot like a final exam, full of adrenaline. The most challenging element is keeping tabs on all the moving parts — there are just so many variables — but, it was so incredibly exciting!

Thanks to all the people that made this experience a dream come true: Adebisi, Alexander, Essia, Megan, Wayne, Abbie, Arlene, and everyone else who was here and worked whole-heartedly. Merci.
